Intel will invest up to $4.6 billion in a new facility in Wroclaw, Poland, creating around 2,000 jobs. The move is aimed at helping the European Union develop a more resilient semiconductor supply chain and reducing dependence on Asia. Intel’s European sites are expected to help with cost efficiency in the EU’s supply chain, and it plans to produce €80bn worth of chips in Europe over ten years. The chip industry has seen volatility due to dips and rises in the world economy, while semiconductors have become a political pawn between the US and China.
