Jaswinder Bedi has been appointed as the new chairman of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), succeeding Flora Mutahi.
The announcement was made during KEPSA’s 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Thursday.
Bedi, who previously served as the Vice-Chairperson of the Board since 2021, will now take on the role for a two-year term.
In addition to Bedi’s appointment, Brenda Mbathi of the American Chamber of Commerce, Kenya was also named as the vice-chairperson during the meeting.
These changes in leadership come as KEPSA aims to implement its new business strategy over the next five years, with a focus on creating a globally competitive market by 2027.
Carole Kariuki, KEPSA Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the importance of building partnerships and shared vision with the government and other stakeholders to achieve an enabling business environment that delivers Kenya’s global competitiveness.
She stated, “The new business strategy challenges us into building partnerships and shared vision with the government and all other stakeholders to realize an enabling business environment that delivers Kenya’s global competitiveness.” This shift in leadership and strategic direction reflects KEPSA’s commitment to driving economic growth and promoting private sector development in Kenya.
With Bedi at the helm, supported by Mbathi as vice-chairperson, KEPSA is poised to lead initiatives that foster collaboration between businesses and government entities for sustainable economic progress.
As KEPSA embarks on this new chapter under Bedi’s leadership, it will be interesting to see how they navigate challenges and seize opportunities in order to achieve their ambitious goals for Kenya’s private sector.
