Pastor Rigathi Launches Marital Counseling Program For Uniformed Officers

Uniformed and disciplined officers in Kenya are set to participate in a mass wedding ceremony, aimed at protecting the benefits of their kin in case of unfortunate death.

The Spouse of the Deputy President, Pastor Dorcas, held an inaugural family and marital counseling session for the registered officers at the Kenya School of Government in Kabete on Saturday.

Speaking during the session, Pastor Dorcas emphasized that marriage works best when God is at the center and called on the officers to cultivate better marriages.

She recounted her personal early marriage experience with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was working as a District Officer at that time.

The two have been married for 35 years.

The chairperson of the National Police Wives Welfare Association (NAPOWA), Beryl Ochieng, highlighted how women suffer most when their husbands die in line of duty.

During the session, officers were also taken through marriage registration by Deputy Register of Marriages Victor Okutoyi who emphasized on having all required documents.

Present were Chief Chaplain of Administration Police Bishop Dr.

Kipkoech KIbet, Chaplain Kenya Police College Rev.John Makai, leadership of NAPOWA led by Chairperson Beryl Ochieng, uniformed officers and their spouses.

The solemnization of these marriages will not only protect women and children from agonies but also promote family values and chaplaincy which are part of the pillars of the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President.

As quoted by Pastor Dorcas: “We must bring to an end the anguish wives and children go through while trying to access their benefits in times of unfortunate death.”.
