Police Seize G4S Van Carrying Sh1Mn Worth Of Bhang In Busia, Two Suspects Apprehended

Two G4S employees have been arrested in Busia, Kenya for transporting bhang worth Sh1 million.

The suspects were apprehended while on their way to Nairobi along the Busia-Nambale road.

Nambale subcounty police commander George Ongosi revealed that the vehicle was stopped by police officers from Nambale police station after receiving a tip-off that the G4S vehicle was carrying illegal drugs.

The bhang had been rolled and sealed in two cartons, making it difficult for an ordinary person to suspect the boxes contained the drug.

The suspects will be arraigned in court on Monday.

Ongosi warned members of the public against engaging in illegal businesses such as smuggling since police are on high alert to ensure outlawed products like illegal drugs are fought against.

He cautioned that anyone who engages in such activities will face the long arm of the law.

Smuggling has become rampant in Busia due to its proximity to the border and porosity of the border, paving way for such illegal businesses.

In a similar incident nine years ago, a middle-aged man was arrested at Muluanda in present-day Samia subcounty after being found transporting bhang worth Sh1.2 million.
